They're just about the friendliest people you could ever meet.

Your mate must be a massive twat.

Re: Croatia
Stay near Dubrovnik and do a boat tour to Kotor in Montenegro. The architecture and the scenery is absolutely stunning. Not that a 2 year old is going to appreciate that much.

The one thing about Croatia is that its difficult to find good sandy beaches (mostly stony) but you can get one in Budva in Montenegro, which is also just about the prettiest little town you'll ever see.

Haha actually it's quite ironic! You'd think id be sick of the sight of sand! It's the wife mate, she wants the littlen to be able to play on a sandy beach! Then theirs me looking for a beach with some bars, going to be hard work this!

I've been to Hvar, thought it was lovely & would like to go back one day. Only thing thats putting me off slightly now, is theirs no sandy beaches, it only had a couple of pebble beaches & me & the wife prefer to sit on a nice sandy beach through the day.
Fussy cunt I am!

Dubrovnik is quality, really lovely place - it's a bit pricey for Eastern Europe though, better to hope over to Bosnia next door, much more bang for your buck.

Been to pula in croatia several times, close to the airport, served by ryanair at stansted.

Lovely place. Look up arenaturist - they have a few gaffes up there. Its what the locals use.

I'm off to Brac in a couple of weeks, staying in Bol so will probably get the boat over and do a night or two in Hvar. Really looking forward to it, seems to tick all the boxes for a good value beach holiday!
